About Sarah Harlow Unwind and Uplift
What are the benefits of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy can help with so many things. If there’s something in life that’s causing stress, anxiety or discomfort, then sessions provide a space for calm, confidence and comfort within the mind.
I support clients to find solutions within the resources they already have in the present so they can move forward towards a desired future. We reframe situations in a positive way and uncover new potential coping strategies too.
Other benefits include feeling in control of change, sleeping better and resilience.
What are the main reasons why people come to you for help?
I mainly work with people who want to manage anxiety better or are looking for relief from stress. They might want to feel calmer, find some more helpful tools for their kit, or reframe a difficult situation they can’t get out of. It could be fears surrounding driving, presenting, interviews, health and medical procedures. It could also be ditching unwanted habits and behaviours such as overeating, procrastination etc.
The one thing my clients all have in common is feeling out of control in some way. I don’t make suggestions or give advice. I’m a gentle guide to draw out how they’d like things to be different and unlocking the power of the subconscious mind. It’s about increasing their ability to cope with a particular situation (or any situation) over time. It’s a time for them to focus on their needs.
Do you feel that many people do not prioritise self-care?
Yes is the short answer. People get caught up in every day life. They might be caring for someone or something (children, elderly relatives, pets, a business) and self-care becomes an afterthought.
There’s a tendency to say things like ‘I’ll do that when I’m less stressed or busy’ ‘I don’t have time.’ Sound familiar? We need that rest and support most vitally in the middle of those tough times. Taking time out for ourselves not only improves energy levels, but mood, creativity, focus and motivation too. It also gives us more capacity to help others.
The smallest things can be acts of self-care and it will mean something different to everyone. To me, a daily walk and a short meditation in the morning are an absolute must.
