Maidenhead May Half Term Activities

Find out what’s on in Maidenhead, Berkshire this May spring bank holiday for kids 2023. There is a selection of free events and fun family events happening. Do check booking details before attending. We are not associated with the running of events – so check for any changes or cancellations too.

Saturday 27th May

Games Club at the Maidenhead Library, St Ives Road, 10:30am – 12:30pm. Free to attend, just turn up. There will be a selection of board games, jigsaws and playing cards in the children’s area.

Roller Disco at Braywick Leisure Centre. Beginners session (scoot and skate) is between 3pm – 4pm. Family and Friends early session (no scooters) is between 4:15pm – 5:15pm. And the late session (DJ pumps up the volume and turns down the lights) is 5:30pm – 7:30pm.

The Spring Trail will be running at Cliveden National Trust each day until the end of May. Pick up your self-guided trail map from the walled garden to discover the spring flowers on the estate.

 

Sunday 28th May

Family funday organised by Angela’s Appeals at Ockwells Park between 12pm – 4pm. There will be stalls, food, games, lucky dip and more.

The celebration of oak apple day is at Ockwells Park from 10am. A free event organised by Wild Maidenhead. Learn about the oak trees and the wildlife they support, with a mini safari and activities for the kids.

 

Tuesday 30th May

See The Amazing Bubble Man at Norden Farm on Altwood Road at 11:30am and again at 2pm. Louis Pearl returns to wow the audience with his bubble tricks for the greatest bubble show on earth!

Head to Discovery at Three (next to the Three store on the High Street) for free junior workshops running this half term. With Stop Motion Animation between 10:30am – 12pm and Vlogging and Video Editing between 1pm – 2:30pm. Note, parents/carers may be expected to stay.

Free arts and crafts at Cox Green library, with a make your own horse paper craft at 3pm.

Arts and crafts session at Norden Farm between 1pm – 2pm. Make your own bubble painting – inspired by the Amazing Bubble Man.

Family Pond Dip at the Braywick Nature Centre, Hibbert Road, 10am – 11:30am. Equipment provided. Suitable for ages 4 – 11, but everyone welcome. Children require a ticket, adults go free.

Explore Learning (situated above Sainsbury’s) will be running FREE drop in classes for anyone who’d like to try out fun Maths and English learning at the centre. Open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3pm – 8pm, Thursdays 3pm – 7pm, Fridays 3pm –  6pm and Saturdays 9:30am – 5pm.

The team at Explore Learning will also be in the Nicholson Centre during the day, talking to families, along with games to play with prizes to be won – from book tokens to fidget toys!

 

Wednesday 31st May

The Super Mario Brothers movie (PG) is showing at Norden Farm at 11am. Follow Mario’s adventures as he searches for Luigi when he gets lost in a magical new world.

Stage show Magical Honey is at Norden Farm at 11:30am and again at 2pm. Inspired by Roald Dahl’s Matilda, follow Maya’s story of her love of drawing, and how she combats the evil Miss Tusra who believes no one should enjoy art.

Animated movie Mummies (U) is showing at Norden Farm at 3:30pm. Three Egyptian mummies live in a secret underground city, and somehow find themselves in present day London.

Family Pond Dip at the Braywick Nature Centre, Hibbert Road, 10am – 11:30am. Equipment provided. Suitable for ages 4 – 11, but everyone welcome. Children require a ticket, adults go free.

Free arts and crafts in the Nicholson Centre with the team at Explore Learning, 11:30am – 2pm. Children can come along and create their own Nature Spotter’s Journal to celebate World Environment Day on the 5th June.

 

Thursday 1st June

Visit the Berkshire Birds of Prey at Crocus at Dorney Court, Dorney, 10am – 4pm for a free event in the walled garden. If you would like to handle a bird, they will ask for £2. Cash only.

Head to Discovery at Three (next to the Three store on the High Street) for more free junior workshops. This time, Block Coding 10:30am – 12pm and Comic Book Creation 1pm – 2:30pm. Note, parents/carers may have to stay.

Family stage fun with the Not So Grimm Twins is at Norden Farm at 11:30am and again at 2pm. Where fairytales take a turn for the unexpected!

Arts and crafts session at Norden Farm between 1pm – 2pm. Make your own fantasy castle from recycled materials – inspired by the Not So Grimm Twins.
