The Christmas festivities may be behind us, but there are still plenty of events and workshops coming up this January 2023. Here is a handy round up of What’s on in Maidenhead and the close surrounding area this month. Do check the details with the event organisers before attending, in case of changes or cancellations.

Maidenhead Model Railway Exhibition

The popular Model Railway Exhibition will return after a few years, on Saturday 7th January, 9:30am – 4pm at Cox Green Community Centre, Highfield Lane, SL6 3AX.

Entry prices – adults £5, Children aged 5-14 £3, under 5’s free, 2 adults and 2 or more children £13.

Maidenhead Farmers’ Market

The Maidenhead Farmers’ Market this month will be on Sunday 8th January. Berkshire’s longest running independent Farmers’ Market is situated every second Sunday of the month in the Grove Park car park (just off York Road) from 9:30am – 1pm.

Expect to find quality local produce from Farmers and stall holders. This includes fresh meat, fish, eggs, dairy produce, baked goods and preserves.

With free on site parking – do visit the first market of 2023!

Maidenhead Heritage Centre

The Maidenhead Heritage Centre is situated on Park Street in Maidenhead (near to the Town Hall). It’s a family friendly museum showcasing the history of Maidenhead and the surrounding area.  As well as the permanent gallery, there are temporary exhibitions and of course the state of the art Spitfire simulator which you can book to fly!

Kids can go along and build their very own Duplo Sounding Arch, dress as a Roman centurion or try out the Spitfire Simulator. Normal opening hours resume after Christmas from Tuesday 3rd January onwards.

General Admission is free. For access to the exhibition and archive on the first floor: Children under 11 – free, ages 11 – 16 – £2, Adults £3.50, Concessions – £3

Tuneless Choir Beat The January Blues

Beat the January blues and join in with the Tuneless Choir this January on Wednesdays, starting on Wednesday 11th at 8pm – 9:15pm at the Maidenhead United Reformed Church, West Street, SL6 1RL.

A fun welcoming group – no experience necessary.

Burns Night Ceilidh at Norden Farm

Book your tickets for this fun and energetic event on Friday 13th January, from 7:30pm at Norden Farm on Altwood Road.

Held in the 18th Century Long Barn, the Craigievar Ceilidh Band take you through the steps of the traditional dances in this incredibly sociable evening, whilst playing lively folk music.

The evening also includes a traditional Burns Night Supper of Haggis, neeps and tatties.

Tickets are priced at £23 (£21 for supporters)

Repair Cafe Maidenhead

The Repair Cafe returns to the Maidenhead Library, St Ives Road on Saturday 14th January between 10am – 3pm.

Run by a voluntary team of repair coaches, they will assist you in mending household or electrical items to keep them out of landfill. It is free to attend, but you must book your slot in advance.

Run Dorney 5k, 10k and Half Marathon

Kick off your year with a 5K, 10K or half marathon at Dorney Lake, SL4 6QP on Saturday 14th January, from 9am.

Entry prices – 5k £26, 10k £28, half marathon £30. There will be water, post run snacks and a medal for each runner.

M2M Events

M2M Events – Clueless About Gaming

M2M Events offer face to face events exclusively for parents. Clueless About Gaming is led by an expert panel, at The Lord Grenfell, Oldfield Road on Wednesday 18th January, between 7:30pm – 10:30pm. Tickets cost £20.

There will be an opportunity for a Q&A session, drinks and nibbles (included in the price) and a cash bar.

GoodGym January Challenge

If you fancy something new for 2023, then why not join the GoodGym team? GoodGym help the community by carrying out good deeds – such as gardening, helping out at the Baby Bank or painting the school gates!

The GoodGym January challenge is now on, so now is the perfect time to join. You can set your own individual goal of doing as many good deeds as you can throughout the month. It’s optional, but your can also run, cycle or walk to each destination.

Go along to the Library for a weekly story time and rhyme session with the little ones. It is at the Maidenhead Library, St Ives Road every Tuesday 10:30am – 11am and Boyn Grove Library, Courthouse Road every Friday 4pm – 4:30pm.

For the ultimate Who experience, book your tickets at Norden Farm, Altwood Road, Saturday 21st January from 8pm.

Performed by Johnny Warman’s Magic Bus, the hits and lesser known Who tracks will be performed in a unique tribute. They are a band in their own right and have previously performed with the likes of Roger Daltery and David Bowie.

Maidenhead Chinese New Year Lion Dance Parade

The Maidenhead Chinese New Year Lion Dance Parade will take place on the Maidenhead High Street on Saturday 28th January at 1pm.

Organised by the Eagle Claw Kung Fu School UK, the Maidenhead Town Partnership and the local Chinese Community Association this is a free event to attend.
