El Cerdo Tapas Bar

El Cerdo is a Spanish Tapas Bar, and there are currently two vibrant restaurants both with waterside views. El Cerdo Maidenhead is situated in the Waterside Quarter, and El Cerdo Bourne End is nestled on the banks overlooking the River Thames.

El Cerdo (Spanish for The Pig) offers authentic Spanish tapas, cooked in traditional charcoal ovens to bring different levels of smoky flavours to various dishes. There is a diverse menu featuring traditional Spanish tapas and unique wines. The vibrancy of the restaurants gives a glimpse of Spanish culture, giving friends and families a sociable eating experience. There is a choice of hot and cold dishes, with some vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available.

The inspiration for the name comes from the Black Iberico pigs, that roam freely in the forest of southwest Spain. They have a diet of herbs, grasses and acorns, creating a distinct flavour that cannot be found anywhere else.

About El Cerdo

You have opened two tapas bars locally in a short space of time. Why do you think Spanish tapas is so popular?

Spanish tapas is a fun way to meet friends and family. It’s the casual way of dining in an informal, authentic setting with great food and vibrant atmosphere that people have come to love.

At El Cerdo you can have just one dish or sample as many dishes as you like. Our restaurants are authentic with home-cooked Spanish food set in a vibrant atmosphere and coupled with great service our customers have grown to love what we offer.

Your first tapas bar is situated on the recent Maidenhead waterways development. Do you feel this is an ideal area for bars and restaurants?

The vision for this area was to create a foodie hub for locals to experience different cuisines and spend time with friends and family in a beautiful setting by the canal and we wanted to be part of the developments and offer the Maidenhead community a taste of Spanish cuisine.

Do you have plans to open more restaurants in the future?

There are plans to open several restaurants in the future and providing the restaurants remain popular with our customers we hope to expand when the time is right.
