Christmas Events In Maidenhead
The festive season is not far away, and many of us look for activities and events to get into the Christmas mood. We have put together a roundup of lots of lovely things to do in Maidenhead for Christmas 2023. Some of the events need to be booked (and be quick, as some are selling out fast), and some do not require pre-booking.
We provide you with the information – but do check with the event organisers as well in case there are any changes or the events have sold out.

The Maidenhead Christmas Lights switch on will be on Saturday 25th November. It will take place in the town between 11am – 7:30pm – with a festive Christmas market, small fairground rides, live music, and a fireworks display on the roof of the town hall, following the countdown to the switch on. The lights will be switched on at 6pm.
Santa’s Grotto will be in the Nicholson shopping centre on Saturday 25th November, Saturday 2nd December, Saturday 9th December, Saturday 16th December. Santa and his elves will be there between 11am – 3pm each week. This is free of charge, but a donation would be welcomed to go to local charities.
There will be a Santa’s Grotto at Dobbies at Hare Hatch from Saturday 25th November – Tuesday 19th December (check the website for details). Explore the enchanted forest, meeting Little Seedlings characters along the way guided by Santa’s elf, before meeting Santa and receiving a gift.
The Alexander Devine Christmas light trail map is now live on their website. Visit beautifully lit up residential houses throughout December in the Borough.
Santa’s Grotto also at Sheeplands, Harehatch between Saturday 2nd December – Friday 22nd December (selected dates – check their website for all the details). Different times slots throughout each day.
The Maidenhead Community Choir Big Christmas Sing will be on Tuesday 5th December at 7pm at the Salvation Army, East Road, Maidenhead. SL6 1PJ. Open to all (£10 rehearsal, and £5 donation to the charity if you want to take part in the big joint choir concert at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Marlow on 17th December at 4:30pm.)
The Alzheimers Dementia Support charity Santa Dash takes place at Dorney Lake on Sunday 26th November from 10:30am. Register your place to take part in this 5K run, walk or wheel. You’ll get a free santa suit, or come in your own festive fancy dress and there are prizes, rewards and lots more fun.
Miki is a magical and inspiring theatre show for families, showing at Norden Farm between Tuesday 28th November – Saturday 30th December. There will be performances at 11am and at 2pm with relaxed performances on Saturday 2nd December at 11am and Wednesday 27th December at 11am. And a signed performance at Wednesday 20th December at 2pm.
Maidenhead’s Christmas Kickoff hosted by Tuneless Choir’s Tabitha, at Smokeys, SL6 1LB on Friday 1st December at 8:30pm. You and your friends will be singing Christmas tunes and carols, followed by dancing at 10pm. Tickets are £15 but get £5 off when you enter our discount code: F2FCKO
Christmas at the Quarter is a free festive event at the Maidenhead Waterside Quarter in town on Saturday 2nd December, 2pm – 6pm. There will be a giant snow globe where you can step inside and capture the memories. Carol singing around the tree. Seasonal treats, including roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and hot chocolate. And the winner of the Festive Children’s Colouring Competition will turn on the Christmas star at the top of the tree, and be in with a chance of winning £50 worth of vouchers for Bakedd. Enter the competition.
WW Mini Zoo Winter Wonderland at WW Mini Zoo, Copas Farm, Cookham on Sunday 3rd December from 10am. Photo opportunity with Santa in his sleigh, meet his reindeer, winterland market with local craft stalls, and other special activities.
Ascot Brass annual Christmas Concert will be at St Mary’s Church, Maidenhead, SL6 1YY on Saturday 9th December, 7pm. In conjunction with Maidenhead Thames Rotary Club, with the Taplow Choirs – in aid of Thames Hospice and Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice. Reserve your tickets online.
Bray Village Hall Christmas Quiz will be on Saturday 9th December at 7:30pm at Bray Village Hall, and follows the Christmas market and switch on of the Christmas tree lights, with carols around the tree (market is between 11am – 5pm and lights and carols are at 4pm). £5 per team, max. 6 people. The St Lukes Christmas Tree Festival will be back at St Lukes Church between Friday 8th – Sunday 10th December. The church will be full of beautifully decorated Christmas trees, all decorated by local organisations in the community. You can go in and visit them between 10am – 7pm on the Friday and Saturday, and 12pm – 6pm on the Sunday. With a Christmas tree service at 6pm. Vote for your favourite by donating, and there are refreshments and a raffle.
The Random and Rocks Christmas Show will return to the Braywick Leisure Centre on Friday 8th December between 5:30pm – 7pm. Doors open at 5pm, and expect an interactive show for children and their grown-ups. Games, dancing, competitions – all with a festive theme.
Free festive film The Grinch, showing at the High Street Methodist Church on Saturday 16th December, 5pm – 7pm. There will be drinks and popcorn available. 100 spaces available – register your free space.
The Maidenhead Panto at the Braywick Leisure Centre will be between Thursday 14th December – Sunday 24th December. This year will be Beauty and the Beast.
There will be a special Christmas family Zoo Day BCA Zoo on Saturday 16th December at 9am – 12pm and 1pm – 4pm.
There are also Elves Workshops where children can make gifts for the animals, then have a guided tour and give the animals their presents. Aimed at children aged 2 – 8 years. These workshops run from Saturday 2nd December – Sunday 24th December at 9:30am and 2pm (see the website for all the details).
The Maidenhead Drama Guild presents The Snow Queen at the Holyport War Memorial Hall between Wednesday 13th December – Friday 15th December at 7:30pm. And Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th December at 12pm and 4pm.
The Hundred Watt Club – A Burlesque Christmas Special will be at Norden Farm on Friday 15th December at 8:30pm. Jam packed full of festive glittering showgirls, bawdy comedy and classic vaudeville.
Lantern making workshops will be held at Norden Farm on Saturday 18th November and Saturday 25th November between 10:30am – 12:30pm and 2pm- 4pm. And Saturday 3rd December between 10:30am – 4pm.
There will also be workshops in the Nicholson Centre ahead of the Lantern Parade which will take place in the town centre on Saturday 9th December At 4:30pm there will be live music and a circus performance from Leo’s Circus, at 5pm the parade starts from the town hall and live music and circus performances continue between 5:45pm – 6:15pm. The Santa Show returns to Braywick Leisure Centre on Thursday 21st December at 11am – 11:45am, Thursday 21st December at 1:30pm – 2:15pm and Saturday 23rd December at 11am – 11:45am. Suitable for children aged 2 years and over. Children under 18 months can have a free baby lap ticket. A short stage show and a gift from Santa.
The fun and energetic Christmas Ceilidh will be at Norden Farm on Saturday 23rd December at 8pm. This evening of dancing and music in the long barn will have you learning dances such as the Cumberland Square 8, Gay Gorden and The Willow Tree! No experience needed!
Once Upon a Bus presents ‘A Magical Yuletide Experience.’ At The Cookham Dean Cricket Club on Saturday 16th December and Sunday 17th December between 9:30am – 3:45pm.
An exclusive two day immersive story telling experience combined with a Christmas market at Cookham Dean Cricket Club between 9:30am – 5:30pm.

The Little Bookshop on Cookham Highstreet are doing Letters To Santa again (head to their website for the details). Simply fill out the secret online form and send your payment of £4.99. Then take your letter along to the shop and post it in the special postbox. Then you will receive a letter back from the man himself between 15th – 19th December. Last post is 12pm on 16th December.
Festive events at St Mark’s Crescent Methodist Church. Coffee and mince pies on Saturday 16th December, 10am – 11:30am. Carol singing on Wednesday 13th December at 5:30pm. Christingle cafe style with the Nativity story and refreshments, Sunday 17th December, 10:30am. And Christmas Eve carol service at 10:30am.
