Chai Cocoa Play Cafe Maidenhead

Soft Play Cafe in Maidenhead (Press Trip/Review)

Chai Cocoa is Maidenhead’s latest addition, and it has been very warmly welcomed. Situated on Queen Street by the junction of York Road, this brand new soft play cafe for grown up and their minis is a lovely space to bring children.

I was invited down for a preview with my 7 year old daughter, and met Pavan and her fabulous team. The front of the cafe is stylishly decorated with a spacious feel. There are shelves of books and toys for the children to read and play with, creating a great relaxed, community environment.

Eco-Conscious and Local

Chai Cocoa are also eco-conscious and do their best to reduce single use plastic, make sustainable choices and source local produce. The tables are made from recycled materials, they stock bamboo bowls, and the tea, coffee, veg and bakes are from local suppliers.

They offer meat free options and alternative milk and they encourage you to bring your reusable coffee cup when ordering a take out.

Cocoa Cubs Soft Play

The soft play area is at the back of the cafe. There is a cute cloud shaped gate that takes you through. The toilet with baby changing facilities is just before the gate, and there is a space for pushchairs.

Before going into the soft play area, there is a shoe rack and little pegs for coats and changing bags. Grown ups and small people are encouraged to remove shoes. The carpet is made of soft ‘grass’ which I immediately noticed as soon as my shoes were off (that and the welcomed air con – as it was a particularly hot day).

There are tables to sit at with more colourful books on the shelves – most with an eco theme. There is an area with colourful sensory lighting and soft educational floor toys – ideal for pre-walkers.

Eva headed to the climbing wall first, then through the soft play area and down the slide. The tree centred play frame is made from sustainable materials, perfect for young children to explore.

Stay and Play Sessions

There are sessions for the soft play which need to be booked on the Chai Cocoa website. This is to keep numbers at a safe and comfortable level – and keep an eye out for discounts too.

There is also an after school play session for children aged 5 and over. This is great to get their friends together for an afterschool treat, with drinks and delicious snacks.

There are plans for classes to be run in the space and even events for the grown ups. It sounds very exciting indeed.

Head to the Chai Cocoa website for more information and booking.
